Telangana on Rain Watch: IMD Warns of Storms and Flood Risk

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a multi-day alert for Telangana, cautioning residents about intense rainfall and associated weather hazards expected through Sunday.
On Wednesday and Thursday, very heavy rainfall is forecast across several districts of the state. The IMD also warns of thunderstorms, lightning activity, and potential squalls during this period. The warning indicates a high likelihood of disruption due to waterlogging, reduced visibility, and damage to infrastructure.
Heavy rainfall continues to be predicted from Friday through Sunday, with similar threats of lightning and squally winds. The rainfall intensity is expected to be comparatively lower than the first two days but may still pose risk in vulnerable regions.
For July 28 and 29, no alerts have been issued, indicating a possible temporary break in adverse weather activity.
The weather forecast for Hyderabad over the next seven days indicates predominantly cloudy conditions with varying rainfall intensity. On Wednesday and Thursday, the city is expected to see intermittent showers and light drizzle under a generally cloudy sky, with temperatures ranging from 23 degrees Celsius to 29 degrees Celsius and humidity levels staying around 54–80 per cent. Moderate rain is likely on Friday and Saturday, with daytime highs at 28 degrees Celsius and overnight lows near 22 degrees Celsius. Humidity is forecast to remain elevated, peaking at 86 per cent. Light rain or drizzle may return on Sunday, while July 28 and 29 are expected to be partly cloudy with chances of thundery developments during the latter part of the day.
District administrations have been advised to remain on alert, particularly in areas prone to flooding or infrastructure damage.
